What does it mean to create immersive movement productions in the digital age? Join Speculative Drama, known for their innovative and immersive theatrical performances, to find out, with Mr. Fox: a play in movement. Mixing live performance and digital presentation in a haunting and beautiful production designed specifically for the digital stage!
This hybrid production combining segments filmed to a live theatrical audience, real-time zoom performance, and immersive point-of-view camera work explores this classic English folk tale’s story of romance, betrayal, and revenge. Drawing from the original source material, as well as folk stories about fox spirits from around the world including the Japanese kitsune, French Reynaud, and more; this production asks the question of what it means to be a “proper woman” in society, and what we risk when we face our own truth.
This original devised production, performed entirely in movement with a musical bed, Mr. Fox evokes silent movies, classic story books, and stylized mask performance while integrating a contemporary sensibility and unconventional staging.
Diving head-first into what it means to create theatre in the age of COVID and bringing Speculative Drama’s signature sensibilities surrounding environmental theatre and immersive-not-interactive performance, this innovative production invites the audience into a common digital space where you can enjoy the show, chat with your fellow audience members, and experience the full world of the play from the comfort of your own couch!
